Vitavia Greenhouses – Securing your greenhouse – preventing wind damage. Having experienced some strong winds in the UK this month, it is worthwhile for all greenhouse enthusiasts to be aware of the precautionary measures we recommend to help prevent wind damage. Base fixing kits are available from Vitavia to secure our greenhouses to the ground. If you position your Vitavia greenhouse on soft ground, in your garden or allotment, (remember the key to successful assembly is to start with level ground) you can make use of our fixing stakes. At all four corners these angled metal stakes can be hammered into the earth and then screwed to the stainless steel perimeter base. Alternatively, for hard ground such as concrete or brick, we offer base fixing clips. These small metal clips hook over the interior lip of our metal bases and can be screwed into the hard standing. We always recommend that our hobby greenhouses should be positioned in sheltered areas where possible to reduce exposure to the wind. Doors and vents should be kept closed in windy conditions as swirling winds inside a greenhouse put extra pressure on the glass panes. By following these precautions, and ensuring your greenhouse sits on a secure base, you should be able to enjoy all year round greenhouse pleasure. |
